El Tour de Tucson
Saturday was El Tour and it was a good day. The weather was great–little wind and warm and sunny. The highlight of the ride was looking forward to seeing Julian along the route wearing his Livestrong onesie. I was counting on getting some of his good JuJu energy to carry me to the finish.
With about twenty miles to go I pulled onto the shoulder and called Stephy to let her know where I was and get that baby out there to Silverbell so I could get my fix. I was hammering the last thirty-five miles and was making pretty good time. I got to Stephy’s street and no one was there! I called her and they hadn’t even left yet, so I hung up the phone and rode down to the house–I wasn’t going to miss out on my JuJu! Freddie filled up my water bottles for me and took a couple of photos of me and my JuJu and then I got back on route.
I pushed hard the rest of the way. At one point I was forty-one minutes behind my scheduled time but I managed to make up all my lost time and an extra five minutes so I finished six minutes ahead of schedule. I owe it all to my little JuJu. I love that baby!!!
